Commentary
A polymer of styrene.
GPPS(GeneralPurpose PS): Basic PS with high transparency. It's hard and not good at impact resistance
・HIPS(High ImpactPS): Milky white PS with improved impact resistance by mixture with rubber components
Key points
- Widely used for food containers in sheet/vacuum-formed form due to its transparency, processability, and printability.
- Heat resistance is around 100℃, and it is not suitable for applications above 100℃.
- Expanded polystyrene foam is made from GPPS by heat with foaming agents.

Lactic acid bacteria beverage containers (HIPS)

Reason for adoption
Good flowability and wide range of molding conditions (excellent product dimensional accuracy and mass production)
Envelope window (GPPS)

Reason for adoption
Easy to see inside (transparency), easy to bond to paper (good adhesion)
