Characteristics

Chemical resistance

High water absorption

Heat resistance with GF

High Toughness

No dimensional stability
Commentary
A polymer composed of repeating amide bonds (-CONH-).
・PA6:Synthesized by ring-opening polymerization of caprolactam
・PA66:Synthesized by condensation polymerization of hexamethylenediamine (HMDA) and adipic acid(ADPA)
Key points
- PA has performance of toughness and high heat resistance with GF filled. PA66 has better mechanical strength than PA6. PA6 has better moldability than PA66.
- Impact strength improves by moisture contents up with dimensional change. (impact strength decreases when completely dry state).
- PA is excellent chemical resistance due to crystalline.By reinforced glass fiber, increase mechanical strength and heat resistance.

Power tool housings

Reason for adoption
Resistance to cracking (toughness), resistance to oil (chemical resistance)
Intake manifold

Reason for adoption
Not crackable (toughness), resistant to oil (chemical resistance), heat resistant for use in engine compartments, lightweight (compared to metal), easy to mass-produce (thermoplasticity)
Wiring Binding Clamps in Electronic Equipment

Reason for adoption
Installation workability (toughness), strength (toughness, environmental temperature compatibility, flame resistance), long-term continuous use (heat resistance, long-term thermal stability)
