Signing of the United Nations Global Compact and Joining the Global Compact Network Japan

Nagase ChemetX Corporation, a member of NAGASE Group, signed the United Nations Global Compact (hereafter referred to as the “UNGC”), which is advocated by the United Nations, in April 2025, and was registered as a participating company in the same month. We have also joined the Global Compact Network Japan, a network of Japanese companies that have signed the UNGC.

We will further advance our sustainability initiatives by developing environmentally friendly products and manufacturing methods that focus on reducing environmental impact. Through these efforts, we aim to remain a chemical company that is kind to both people and the planet. We support the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, and will continue contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.

The Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact

Human Rights

Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights;and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Labour

Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Environment

Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Anti-Corruption

Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

What is the United Nations Global Compact?

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, established to promote collaboration between the United Nations and private sector in building a sustainable society.
Participants in the UNGC commit to aligning their strategies and operations with ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. These principles are to be implemented through continuous efforts under the leadership of top management.
