Fukuchiyama Plant

In March 2022, the Fukuchiyama Plant was awarded the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Class 3 Accident-Free Record Certificate (for continuous accident-free operations). On a recommendation from the Fukuchiyama Labor Standards Inspection Office, we also received the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Encouragement Award at the Kyoto Safety and Health Conference in July 2022.

We believe that the reason we have been able to maintain our long accident-free record of approximately 20 years, from 2003 to 2023, is due not only to what we are doing today, but also to the measured efforts of our predecessors of yesterday.

Uncompromising in making dangers more visible

The Fukuchiyama Plant is a facility that manufactures enzymes (food additives) and enzyme reactants (food ingredients and cosmetic raw materials).

Therefore, in operating equipment consisting mainly of filters, cultivation tanks, and mixers, careful attention must be paid to the piping underfoot and the marking of traffic routes.

Marking traffic routes and making dangers more visible

We have clearly marked traffic routes with blue and red lines to help prevent collisions.

Making pillars visible for passing forklifts

Previously, pillars painted blue blended in with the surroundings, presenting the risk of a forklift collision. By changing the color of the pillars to yellow and making them stand out, we have greatly reduced the risk of collisions.

Monthly patrols to continue under the slogan: Zero accidents and near-misses in a clean workplace

We are continuing our monthly patrols by the Safety Team and Health Team, each consisting of four members.
As seen in the hanging banner in the photo above, they operate under the slogan: Zero accidents and near-misses in a clean workplace.

At the beginning of each fiscal year, we set monthly themes and action plans, conduct patrols and checks every month, and share the results with the relevant departments to raise awareness.

Additionally, each department conducts thorough inspections of the 190 safety devices installed within the facility. We have also set a Hiyari-Hatto (Near-Miss) Month, during which each worker is required to submit and share at least one near-miss incident report. These are some of the ongoing efforts we make.

We continue with our steady and steadfast efforts.

We believe that the accumulation of these efforts is what allows us to avoid major accidents and ensure the safety of our workers. We consider the accumulation of these daily efforts to be of utmost importance.

Unfortunately, in FY2023, there was a lost-time accident. This was likely due to a slight lapse in vigilance. We will return to the basics of protecting our valued coworkers from serious accidents and will continue to strive forward with our safety and health activities.
