Anti-aging

Restoring skin elasticity by improving quality and quantity of elastin

Glucosyl Naringin (GN) is an upcycled glycosylated citrus polyphenol developed by Nagase Viita (former Hayashibara). We have significantly increased the water solubility of Naringin (aglycon of GN) through our glycosylation technology, enabling it to be effectively used in skin care products.
GN is scientifically proven to improve skin elasticity by promoting both the quality and quantity of elastin, making it a beneficial ingredient for anti-aging products.

Strengthen

Strengthening the Skin Barrier Function

Maintaining a healthy skin barrier is essential to preventing skin irritation and dryness. Several components of the stratum corneum (SC) contribute to its barrier function. Filaggrin plays an important role by aggregating keratin within the SC to form keratin filaments. Meanwhile, the cornified envelope, a strong, membrane-like structure, protects the corneocytes. Both are essential to the overall structure of the SC.

In recent testing, the treatment by GN promoted the formation of cornified envelope and production of profilaggrin, precursor of filaggrin, which contributes to the strength and flexibility of SC. The results suggest that GN enhances skin barrier function and helps restore its natural strength.

Protect

Reducing UVB induced stresses

UVB, a medium-wavelength ultraviolet radiation, is a known cause of sunburn. Its exposure induces an inflammatory response in the skin, leading to dark spots and wrinkles*.

In our in vitro studies, the treatment of 1% GN on NHEK cells (Normal human epidermal keratinocyte) with UVB irradiation significantly increased cell viability and suppressed the increase of gene expression of inflammation markers (TNF-α, MMP-9).
These results shows that GN helps protect the skin from UVB-induced inflammation.
