At Hayashibara Co., Ltd. (Headquarters in Shimoishii, Kita-ku, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture; President Osamu Morishita), we have begun construction on an extension to the T Building of the Okayama Functional Saccharide Plant (Imabo, Kita-ku, Okayama City) adjacent to the S Building that went into full-scale operation in August.
The Okayama Functional Saccharide Plant T Building was completed in June 2009, and received FSSC22000 certification in 2012. It is dedicated to the production of “TREHA” (product name) from high purity trehalose for food. Equipment including machinery for concentration and for crystallization, and automated storage and retrieval systems will be installed within this extension. It will be built in the empty lot adjacent to the machinery structure on the north side of the Okayama Functional Saccharide Plant T Building (on the east side of the newly built S Building), and will greatly increase production capacity.
This extension will leverage our own technological expertise based on years of trehalose production to make our core products even more competitive while assuring stable supply of safe, reliable products. Cutting edge energy-saving equipment will be introduced, production flows will be redesigned, and the implementation of automated storage and retrieval systems will boost distribution effectiveness.
With an investment of about 2.6 billion yen, our current production capacity of 35,000 tons is expected to increase by around 30%. With the beginning of construction in September 2015, completion is scheduled for September 2016.
