Nagase Viita Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shimoishii, Kita-ku, Okayama; Representative Director: Naoki Yasuba), a member of the NAGASE Group, applied to the Japan Anniversary Association (Representative Director : Kiyoshi Kase) to designate May 11 of each year as “Nagase Viita Day,” and this date is now officially registered as a commemorative day. The registration was completed on April 1, 2024—the same day that Nagase Viita Co., Ltd adopted its new company name.
The aim of this registration is to acquaint employees, members of the local community, and various internal and external stakeholders with the essence of “Nagase Viita.”
The term “Viita” was created by adding an “i” to the Latin word vita, which means life and living, reflecting the core theme of our operations. Furthermore, the double “ii” signifies the values of coexistence and co-creation.
Why we chose May 11:
- In Roman numerals, Viita’s “V” represents the number 5 (May is the fifth month), while “ii” is interpreted as a doubling up of “i” to represent 11.
- Within the seven-day calendar, May 11 aligns directly beneath May 4, celebrated as “Greenery Day”* in Japan. This alignment resonates with the ethos of “Viita,” emphasizing our aspiration to collaboratively build a future harmonious with nature, and support this future from the foundations .
* A nationally recognized holiday dedicated to fostering appreciation for nature, expressing gratitude for its gifts, and nurturing a deep connection with the environment.
