The Hayashibara Museum of Art, with support from Nagase Viita, will host the "18th Omamori Katana (Amulet Sword) Exhibition" from Saturday, November 29, 2025, to Sunday, January 18, 2026. This special exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the All Japan Swordsmith Association.
The exhibition features newly crafted Omamori Katana selected from submissions by swordsmiths across Japan. These awarded works represent a synthesis of arts—blade forging, mounting, and polishing. These works embody the pursuit of advanced craftsmanship while contributing to the preservation of the living tradition of Japanese sword culture.
A concurrent exhibition highlights exceptional “koshirae” (sword mountings) from the Hayashibara Museum’s collection, including treasures passed down by the Ikeda family, former lords of the Okayama domain. Under the theme of "Sea," this section introduces Samurai aesthetics through unique designs utilizing materials such as ray skin, fish scales, and mother-of-pearl inlay.
