  • Information

Hayashibara Museum of Art holds an exhibition celebrating its 60th anniversary from Saturday, June 29, through Monday, September 16.

The Tale of the Heike (平家物語, Heike Monogatari) is an epic account compiled prior to 1330 of the struggle between the Taira clan and Minamoto clan for control of Japan at the end of the 12th century in the Genpei War (1180–1185)*.

This exhibition consists of two phases and displays famous scenes familiar to Japanese people from the only complete surviving copy of " The Heike Monogatari Emaki (平家物語絵巻, Illustrated Handscroll of the Tale of the Heike (War))" from the Hayashibara Museum of Art collection. In addition, a collaborative exhibition with the highly acclaimed Japanese anime series "The Heike Story," which aired in 2022, allows visitors to enjoy the story from various angles.
