Hayashibara Co., Ltd., a member of Nagase Group, (Headquarters: Shimoishii, Kita-ku, Okayama City, President: Naoki Yasuba) is pleased to announce its support for the United Nations Food System Summit 2021, scheduled to be held in New York, USA in September 2021. By leveraging the strengths of enzyme utilization technology that we have long cultivated and plant-based materials developed through our biotechnology, we will promote the development of safe and nutritious foods. We also work to secure stable food supply by improving agricultural and livestock productivity and reducing food loss and waste, thereby we will contribute to the realization of a sustainable food system, especially "food security in terms of both quality (nutrition) and quantity (supply).
In 2021, UN Secretary-General António Guterres will convene a Food Systems Summit as part of the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Hayashibara endorses the purpose of this summit and expresses the following commitment through the Japanese government.
