Racing Toward a Greener Future: Andretti Formula E's Quest in the World's Most Sustainable Motorsport

Welcome to the world of Formula E, often called the "F1 of electric vehicles." Founded by the FIA in 2012, this international racing series is on a mission to combat climate change and reduce urban air pollution. Held on the streets of major cities like New York, London, and Tokyo, Formula E is globally recognized as the "world's most sustainable sport." In this article, we'll explore the cutting-edge technology and environmental consciousness that captivate fans worldwide, while also highlighting the exciting partnership between the Andretti Formula E team and NAGASE.

The Rules of the Game: Strategy and Speed

In Formula E, energy management is key. With a limited battery capacity, drivers must master the art of balancing speed with efficiency. This strategic element adds a layer of complexity not seen in other motorsports.

Adding to the excitement are a few unique rules:

  • Attack Mode:

This temporary power boost allows drivers to increase their car's output from the standard 300kW to 350kW. Drivers can activate this mode by passing through a designated "activation zone" on the track.

  • Pit Boost (Introduced in 2025):

A new rule that allows drivers to get a short "power-up mode" by making a quick pit stop to recharge their battery during the race.

These rules transform the race into a high-stakes chess match, where strategy and quick thinking are just as important as speed.

The Tokyo E-Prix: A Historic Street Race

Since its inaugural race in Beijing in 2014, Formula E has expanded its global footprint. The series made a long-awaited stop in Japan with the first-ever Tokyo E-Prix held in March 2024 in the Ariake district.

The circuit, a temporary track built on Tokyo's public roads, is famous for its challenging layout with a continuous series of technical corners. The event's success led to an expanded two-day schedule in 2025, drawing even more attention from motorsport fans worldwide.

Andretti Formula E: A Powerhouse Team

Among the many teams competing, Andretti Formula E stands out. The team is owned by Michael Andretti, a former F1 world champion, and has been a key player in Formula E since its first season in 2014. Their biggest achievement came in Season 9 (2023), when driver Jake Dennis secured the world championship title.

For the 2025 season, the team is powered by the duo of Jake Dennis and Nico Müller. Dennis has already demonstrated his skill with multiple podium finishes, proving his championship was no fluke.

NAGASE's Commitment to Sustainable Mobility

Since 2022, NAGASE has been a proud sponsor of Andretti Formula E. This partnership is a testament to the company's commitment to advancing electrification and sustainability through motorsports.

As a global corporation, NAGASE is tackling environmental challenges related to climate change across all its business units. In a recent breakthrough in May 2025, NAGASE succeeded in developing a groundbreaking technology to recycle damaged CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) parts provided by Andretti Formula E.

NAGASE Mobility will continue to promote initiatives related to electric vehicles and sustainable mobility. The partnership between Andretti Formula E and NAGASE is a powerful symbol of their shared mission to race toward a future of sustainable mobility and a greener society
