Small Scale Distributed Ammonia Plant

Small Scale Distributed Ammonia Plant

Tsubame BHB’s small scale distributed ammonia production module enables on-site and on-demand production of Ammonia. Usually, ammonia is produced by Haber-Bosch process which requires high temperature and high pressure, and so large-scale plants. Today, Tsubame BHB has developed special catalysts called “Electrides” and succeeded in production of ammonia in much milder conditions, which enables downsizing ammonia plants. TM series cover the production capacity from 500 t/y, 3,000 t/y up to 5,000 t/y.

Product Features

- Reduce transportation and storage cost by on-demand and on-site production of ammonia
- Green ammonia is also available if produced with renewable energy

SDGs POINT

Tsubame BHB’s Small Scale Ammonia production system contributes to the development of green ammonia supply chain and thus contribute to the decarbonization of the ammonia industry.
Tsubame BHB promotes local production and local consumption of Green Ammonia and Low Carbon Fertilizer using locally available renewable energy in each country.

Technology Details

Tsubame BHB has unique and innovative ammonia synthesis catalyst born from Tokyo Institute of Technology.
This innovative ammonia synthesis catalyst is called “Electride Catalyst”, and it enables ammonia synthesis at lower pressure and lower temperature than conventional technology.
