Gravure coating
Gravure printing, also called intaglio printing. The part (plate) on which the coating liquid is applied is concave, and the
substrate is pressed against it to transfer the liquid. The amount of liquid (film thickness) can be adjusted by varying the depth of the intaglio plate, enabling high-definition printing. The device is called a gravure coater.
As a side note, gravure in magazines comes from the fact that they were printed using this high-definition printing method. Now, however, other printing technologies have developed, and most printing is now offset.
