Interface Science and Technology
We can propose chemicals for process improvement such as process time reduction and surface wettability adjustment. An "interface" is the boundary between objects with different properties or states, such as between a solid and a liquid, or between a liquid and air. We don't often think about interfaces in our daily lives, but for example, when trying to remove grease from a ceramic plate, various interfacial phenomena are deeply involved in removing the oil that has adhered to the solid ceramic (molten solids such as aluminum, calcium, and silicate) and the oil (a mixture of oleic acid and unsaturated fatty acids, for example). In reality, a phenomenon occurs in which the oil that has been "adsorbed" onto the inorganic molten solid is "penetrated," "dispersed," and "emulsified" by the cleaning solution. Interface science is the field that studies the phenomena that act on interfaces to achieve cleaning, and NAGASE has extensive knowledge in this field.

Application Examples of Interfacial Technology
An emulsion is a stable dispersion of incompatible liquids such as water and oil in some manner. Examples of emulsions include mayonnaise, dressings, and cosmetics. The application of these emulsions to cleaning is a technique called “emulsion cleaning.” By stably dispersing active ingredients that are normally insoluble in water in a liquid, unique cleaning performance can be achieved. NAGASE also adjusts the emulsion dispersion size.

In this example, ionic substances are stably dispersed in a hydrocarbon solvent. Using NAGASE technology, even substances that are immiscible in various solvents can be stably dispersed.
In addition to this example, the following can be achieved based on other technologies:
- ・low-foaming chemical solution
- ・Surface Wettability Adjustment Cleaning Solution
- ・Photoresist stripper (galvanic corrosion inhibitor)
- ・Etchant that dissolves only specific metals and not others (low side etching etchant)
- ・Solvent for dissolving only specific resins (selective stripping solutions for acrylic resin, epoxy resin, silicone resin, etc.)
- ・Cold-resistant cleaning solution (prevents cleaning solution from freezing)
- ・Cleaning solution that does not contain regulated solvents such as NMP
